The Seagate BlackArmor comes as either a personal and portable external hard drive such as the seagate blackarmor ps 110 or as the seagate blackarmor nas, a network attached storage solution designed for small to medium businesses, such as the seagate blackarmor nas 220 or the larger capacity seagate blackarmor nas 440.

The seagate blackarmor 500gb is fully portable and easy to carry around whilst having a 500gb capacity, larger than most portable external hard drives with just a 320gb storage capacity. This means that the BlackArmor is large enough to handle most of your normal data transfer and storage needs, whether you are saving your work projects or moving and storing your music and photos. Measuring just 6.8 inches by 5.2 inches and being only 1.8 inches thick and weighing 8 ounces means it can easily be carried around in your pocket or bag without having to carry an additional computer or laptop bag wherever you go.

It is very easy to use, just plug in to the computer or Mac via the USB cable and you can easily drag and drop or copy and paste the data or files that you wish to back up and transfer.

This particular Seagate model has a built in facility that backs up your open files. Anyone who has been halfway through a work project or even part way through a download when their system crashes and loses all of the data knows how important it is to have the ability to back up as you progress. Not only does this bring added peace of mind but it also saves you time as you do not need to have to keep stopping periodically to back up your work as it is carried out for you without interruption.

It also comes preloaded with 'safety drill+ recovery software' which gives the BlackArmor external hard drive the ability to carry out a partial or full system restore to the point of the last back up following a severe or fatal system crash. You can also recover data or files that have been accidentally deleted. You can choose between recovering your entire system or just individual files of your choice, giving you a safety net that your work is always protected against any accidental or technical data loss.

A great addition is the 'Try and Decide' feature which allows you to download software or try different settings without having to compromise the security of your system. You can set up a temporary work space within your computer or Mac using the BlackArmor and here you can change your system settings or indeed download software that you may not be 100% certain about. Once you have finished either downloading or changing you settings you can then choose whether to keep the change you have made or simply delete all of that recent activity and return to your previous set up as if nothing had ever happened.

Users were awed by the Seagate BlackArmor. It allows them to choose between more storage space as well as more reliability in terms of back-ups. According to a user, The 2 TB unit has two one-terabyte drives and gives you the ability to choose whether you want more space (RAID 0) or more reliability (RAID 1). Usually, customers opted for better back-up reliability. With the RAID 1 setup, when you read a file from the NAS, you’re reading it from 2 hard rives simultaneously, and over a gigabit connection this means you can copy files from the hard drive at 40 megabytes per second. Writing is half that, about 20 megabytes per second.

For people who are looking for a reliable and straightforward way to backup and store their data, the Seagate BlackArmor is the ideal solution!!!
